Concerned about a loved one's mental health? Contact a hotline in Finland for guidance.

Mental health problems affect about 13% of the global population. When it seems like a loved one is battling with their mental health, you might be struggling yourself to know how to support them. If you notice these signs in someone you care about, reach out for advice from one of 6 hotlines in Finland.

  • They have suddenly lost or gained a lot of weight.
  • They have told you that they are having trouble sleeping.
  • They are struggling at school or work.
  • They have become more withdrawn.
  • They seem secretive, like they're hiding something.
  • They have mentioned that they have the intention to hurt someone else.
  • They have started talking in a slow, low voice without much expression.
  • They have stopped caring about their physical appearance.

When someone you love is suffering, it can hurt you too. If you don’t know how to help, it’s normal to feel powerless. You can be there for your loved one in small ways and still make a big difference.

If you're worried about a loved one's mental health and you're not sure what to do, help is available. You can contact a hotline in Finland and get support from a volunteer who cares. A helpline volunteer can guide you in how to help a loved one who is struggling.
